chaos networking

There are, for me, some issues with what has become affectionately termed "Social Networking". How about seriously scary networking?
What need drives an individual to consider technological exchanges of unknown truths to be significantly social?
This says something about our society, one of fear, in which such interchange seems so inviting.
It will be used in the library in whatever format those in the know deem appropriate. The masses will be thrilled even if confused. Those without knowledge will expect instant clarification and understanding so they can enter into the fray of social exchanges.

Intrusive interaction reigns

Instant messaging could be an asset if used for any rational purpose. Used indiscriminately it would add more useless and time consuming data into an already busy environment.

RSS Chaos

Easiest is not part of the picture yet, it is new for me to use RSS. Rather like asking for the pie menu and then choosing what I want.
Topix.net I liked best but the Dewey Blog is good too.
However the mouse on this computer is crazy, always crazy.
The value in feeds for the library patron would be debatable. It would certainly require someone to train them in how to use it.

This is just amazing. The things we can do, the information that is ours and so easily too. The mouse that never stays put.
Really this could be so helpful to some people. I just wouldn't be one of them. Still is has been an amusing experience, in a rather tramatic way.
I would never use the RSS feeds in this lifetime. However now I know they are there, just in case someone asks.

This foray into creative activity provided a certain amount of interest in an otherwise puzzling experience.

7 1/2 Habits

Lifelong learning happens to everyone, sort of.

The easiest of the habits would be to accept reponsibility for my own learning.

The hardest of the habits would be to set goals, of which I have none.
